The Megalodon is an expedition level closed circuit mixed gas rebreather, with the versatility, modularity, and robustness for any range of dives, from shallow tropical reef dives to the most extreme deep cave and wreck exploration. The Meg is an exceptional entry-level rebreather, and has also proven to be faultless on dives to over 200 meters.
The Meg offers two different options for control systems, one making it a manually controlled rebreather (mCCR), the other making it electronically controlled (eCCR). The two heads are interchangeable, so one may be purchased initially, and then kept as a backup when upgrading to the other.
The mCCR option is the COPIS (Constant Oxygen Pressure Injection System) head, which uses a constant-flow orifice that injects oxygen at slightly below the diver's metabolic rate, making manual control of PO2 simple and easy. The system includes a handset display with large numbers for each of 3 oxygen sensor readouts.
The eCCR option is the APECS2 head, which uses a solenoid to electronically maintain the PO2 at a desired setpoint. Two redundant computers, each with an independent power supply and handset display, provide PO2 readouts. A heads-up LED display provides a constant PO2 display without the need to look at the handset.
The Meg is all about choice; the diver may use their choice of tanks, regulators, wing, backplate, or counterlungs, or order their unit as a turn key solution. There are even two different choices for the main canister size. The whole system is very modular and reconfigurable, making it easy to travel with and adapt to the diver's specific needs.
